Hans Riemer--Your op ed in the Washington Post is very misleading.
A guest post by a Montgomery County resident as part of the email sent to Councilman Reimer
The telecom industry is just the latest of many evil industries and companies that killed people so they could make a bundle. The cigarette industry, Exxon Mobil, Dupont, Volkswagen, and Monsanto are just a few that claimed that their products were harmless. When they were sued, internal documents were unearthed that showed that they knew all along that they were killing people.
When the telecom industry is sued, it will come out that when they got the Telecom Act of 1996 passed they already knew that cell towers and cell phones caused cancer and many other health problems.
Hans--You will probably get a lucrative job with the telecom industry when you leave the Mont. Co. Council but your reputation will go down with the industry's.
Because the telecom industry has so much money and influence over the FCC and the media, few people know the health and environmental problems caused by wireless communication. Environmental Health Trust focuses on the health problems caused by wireless radiation.(EHTrust.org). Read the extensive research on the health effects of wireless radiation that has already been published in peer-reviewed journals. I have attached 72 pages of it.
In addition, consider the effect on the environment. Wireless communication is killing animals, birds and bees, and lowering the quality of life.
Cancer
Adverse effects on fertility and reproduction
Neurotoxic effects
Cognitive effects and impaired memory
Behavioral issues
Hearing Loss
Headaches
Sleep
Oxidative stress
Genotoxic effects
Endocrine system damage
Disruptions in in heart functioning
A synergistic effect between electromagnetic fields and toxic exposures

Kill ZTA 18-11. It is a flawed, very pro-industry bill. Replace it with one that protects people.
Hans--Reconsider. Listen to the large group of people who have been telling you that the Council should make public safety come first. 36 people testified against it at the public hearing in Sept. Many people have met with, called, and emailed members of the Council. Kill ZTA 18-11 and let the new council develop an ordinance that protects people and wildlife. There is no rush. The only rush is so the industry can make more money.

On this page we are keeping documentation on the firefighters opposition and we have posted important news videos that cover this issue.

Teacher unions also have made position statements on wireless radiation. Learn more here.
In this news report below- California investigative reporter Julie Watts interviews firefighters and California officials on the SB649 exemption for firefighters.
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS (IAFF)
- “The IAFF opposes the use of fire stations as base stations for towers and/or antennas for the conduction of cell phone transmissions until a study with the highest scientific merit and integrity on health effects of exposure to low-intensity RF/MW radiation is conducted and it is proven that such sitings are not hazardous to the health of our members.”
- The IAFF Official Position Against Cell Towers on Fire Stations passed in 2004.
- This position was initiated after increasing complaints among firefighters with cellular antennas on their stations coupled with the California study showing neurological damage in California firefighters conducted by Dr. Gunnar Heuser.
