Montgomery Co. considers 5G, but health concerns have residents protesting
Tuesday night a couple dozen people protested outside a public hearing before the Montgomery County Council about the possible expansion of 5G cell phone towers.
Council members are considering a plan to allow telecommunications companies to erect small 5G cell antennas in front of homes. Presently, cell phone transmitters have to be 300 feet from a home. Under this proposal they could be 60 feet in front of a residence in the right-of-way and in some cases as close as 30 feet from a house.
Theodora Scarato with Environmental Health Trust says study after study shows radio frequency radiation is bad for plants, animals and humans.
“There are literally thousands of independent scientists ringing the alarm bell on 5G,” says Scarato.
