200 foot Cell Tower at Blair High School Athletic Fields Monday, April 30th meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Blair HS Cafeteria

Blair High School Might Get A Cell Tower.

Monday, April 30th community meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Blair HS Cafeteria about the proposed 200 foot cell tower. T Mobile will be placing antennas on the tower.

You are invited to the meeting: Please see the notice below that oddly is missing important information that T-Mobile will be placing antennas on the tower and the tower will get up to 5 commercial carriers.

Once built, the tower will get commercial  antennas. So if built, there will be a 200 foot cell tower near the fields with antennas from many commercial carriers.

T-Mobile will be placing antennas in the tower.

Monday, April 30th meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Blair HS Cafeteria on County's proposal for a new cell tower at Blair athletic fields -with total height including antennas of over 200'.

The County Department of Technology Services is proposing a new cell tower with a total height, including antennas, of over 200 feet and at least 8 antennas initially, that would be used by both public and private entities. The tower and equipment shed would be adjacent to Blair High School in Blair Local Park, just beyond the left field baseball fence and would be visible down University Boulevard past Eastern Middle School.

In addition, under the Spectrum Act, after the cell tower is built, it would be allowed to be increased by 20 feet in height and/or in width.

Please note that a public information request has found that land is supposed to be used for the school. Why are commercial cell antennas being placed on it?

Action Alert on Small Cell ZTA for Montgomery County

Action Alert on Small Cell ZTA for Montgomery County

May 3rd the Montgomery County Council Planning Housing and Economic Development Committee  will be voting on the Zoning. Everyone must call Councilmembers on the phone to make an impact. See the most recent ZTA here https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/Resources/Files/zta/2018/ZTA%2018-02.pdf

Tell them:
The new Zoning Amendment  on Wireless Antennas ZTA does not protect people, their property or the interests of Montgomery County. Please WITHDRAW the ZTA until a ZTA is put forward that truly serves and is supported by the citizens of the county. Clearly the ZTA impacts where people live and removes public notice and hearing for a cell antenna in our front yards. This is unacceptable.

These three Council members are VOTING on May 3rd. Call them today!

Tonight! Don’t Let Antennas and Cell Poles Ruin Our Neighborhoods!

Don’t Let Antennas and Cell Poles Ruin Our Neighborhoods!

We need your voice to be heard LOUD and CLEAR, if we are to beat back County ZTA 18-02, a bill that threatens to erode protections for our safety, neighborhood aesthetics, and property values.

Please join your neighbors and friends at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 to tell the County Council that you OPPOSE Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 18-02.  (The original hearing was postponed due to inclement weather and rescheduled for tomorrow night.)

3rd Floor Hearing Room

100 Maryland Avenue

Rockville, MD 20850

We need an updated head count - and greatly appreciate your advance commitment.  Please let us know if you are attending.

RSVP to controlcelltowers@gmail.com and let us know that you WILL be there!

Your participation is essential if we are to succeed in stopping Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 18-02.

Just like the predecessor amendment that we blocked in 2016, this ZTA was designed by and for the wireless industry, and not with or for residents.

We want a better ZTA; one the protects rights of residents, – and requires wireless facilities to have the least possible adverse impacts on our neighborhoods!

WE NEED YOU to once again show the County Council that Montgomery County must put residents and our neighborhoods first

We DO want a ZTA, but NOT this ZTA 18-02!
  • We want a ZTA that will not sacrifice our safety, neighborhood aesthetics, or property values;
  • We want a ZTA that will ensure transparency, proper notice of proposed facilities, and fair and proper consideration of our concerns in the application review process;
  • We want a ZTA that protects ALL residents, regardless of:
o   what part of the County they live in,

o   whether their utilities are above ground or underground, and

o   the type of dwelling they have;

Free Parking is available after 6:00pm in the Council Office Building (COB) Garage.  Entrance is on E. Jefferson St. (Rt. 28) on the right just before intersection at Monroe Street.

This will likely be the ONLY public hearing on ZTA 18-02, so PLEASE attend!

Be sure to alert your friends and neighbors – and pass along this email.

More details can be found on the MC4T.org website.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night in Rockville!

Tonight; Montgomery County Council Hearing on Zoning That Would Bring Mini Cell Towers To Front Yards

Tonight: Scientists  and Community Leaders To Oppose New Zoning Code Which Allows Cell Tower Antennas/Towers throughout Montgomery County

Expansion Comes Days After NIH  Review Panel Confirms “Clear Evidence” of Cancer Link

This evening the full Montgomery County Council will hold a hearing tonight on a new draft zoning ordinance (ZTA 18-02 Telecommunications Towers – Limited Use) which would strip away zoning laws that currently prevent antennas from being placed on utility poles and lampposts close to homes. The ordinance would pave the way for  cell towers and antennas throughout Montgomery County in commercial/residential areas like Silver Spring and down town Bethesda. The ordinance would also take away a requirement to notify the public when industry applications are filed to place antennas on utility poles and light poles in residential neighborhoods.

“The latest science finds “clear evidence” linking the radiation coming from cell towers and cell phones to cancer. Just last week the review board of the National Toxicology Program voted that the tumors found in the heart and brains of animals exposed to this radiation were evidence of carcinogenicity” said Theodora Scarato, Executive Director of Environmental Health Trust who pointed to the Ramazzini Institute study which also found the same cancer types in an animal study using very very low levels of this radiation.

“The latest evidence conclusively confirms that radiofrequency radiation is a Category 1 human carcinogen” said Anthony Miller MD, Professor Emeritus, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.
